Where have all the aquatic plants gone?
Aquatic plants, algae and blue green algae are a natural part of an aquatic ecosystem and are present in healthy water bodies.
Developing our future leaders
To maintain a highly effective precinct, we recognise the importance of having a well-equipped and skilled team. While our existing staff members are already well-qualified in their respective fields, such as environmental management and horticulture, our commitment to excellence drives us to continuously invest in the development of our staff and workforce. Our goal is to provide the highest level of service to our valued community.
Looking after our canals – Carp netting and removal programme
The Century City canals span over 8.5 kilometres, which includes the new Ratanga Park waterways and Intaka Island wetland. The canals form part of the precinct’s stormwater management system with the outlet of the system running under the Ysterplaat air force base to the sea, and an overflow at high flow into a stormwater detention pond also managed by the CCPOA and located between Skywater Avenue and Ratanga Road.

We’re keeping things in shape in Century City
We’re striving to stay on top of things! Through pro-active planning and incorporating smart city innovations and principles, we are constantly busy with remedial work and have a rolling budget for substantial capital infrastructure projects. In fact, we try and put away a little at a time for a rainy day, just in case.
