The Century City Arts Foundation

The Century City Arts Foundation (CCAF), which has Public Benefit Organisation Status, was formed with the aim of making Century City a destination for art. It aims to preserve, foster and communicate the arts in Century City by providing facilities, opportunities, a platform and a forum for both established and aspirant artists across all art genres.

Since its inception, the Century City Arts Foundation has undertaken numerous initiatives, such as art exhibitions, artist showcase events and community involvement projects.

Century City Art Trail

Our permanent exhibition

Our permanent Exhibition, the Century City Art Trail consists of a number of mosaic, painted, architectural and sculptural pieces including Ibis Rising, a mural mosaic on the walls of The Island Club; Family Reunion, a poignant wooden piece carved from a tree trunk; Feather Lane, a series of circular mosaic meditations set in the paving of a lane leading down to Intaka Island; Aonyx, two larger than life Steel Cape Clawless Otter Sculptures erected in the middle of the Grand Canal and many more unique pieces.

OPEN AIR EXHIBITION

The Anton Smit Open Air Exhibition forms part of the vibrant Century City Art Trail and showcases a remarkable collection of larger-than-life sculptures by internationally renowned South African artist Anton Smit.

Installed throughout the precinct, the exhibition features around 32 striking works placed in public spaces, allowing residents, visitors and those working in Century City to encounter art as part of their everyday environment. The collaboration between Anton Smit and the Century City Arts Foundation was created to beautify the precinct, introduce the public to world-class art free of charge, and provide an open-air gallery where these powerful sculptures can be experienced up close. As visitors explore the walkable exhibition across the precinct, the sculptures add a dramatic and contemplative dimension to Century City’s urban landscape, inviting moments of reflection, discovery and connection.

CENTURY CITY ARTS FOUNDATION TRUSTEES

The Trustees of the Century City Arts Foundation play a vital role in guiding and safeguarding the Foundation’s vision and purpose. Acting as custodians of the Art Trail, they provide strategic oversight, ensure good governance, and uphold the Foundation’s commitment to accessible, high-quality public art.

Their role is both practical and visionary, ensuring that the Art Trail continues to grow in a way that enriches the precinct and creates meaningful cultural experiences for all.
