As the chill of winter settles over Cape Town and the city’s evenings grow longer, Century City is once again preparing to light up the season with one of its most beloved annual traditions — the return of the enchanting Winter Night Market at Intaka Island.
From May through August, on the last Friday of every month, the heart of Century City will transform into a glowing winter wonderland filled with the comforting aromas of sizzling street food, the warmth of mulled wine and warming heaters, live music drifting through the night air, and the unmistakable buzz of people coming together to celebrate the season.
A feast for the senses
This year’s Winter Night Market promises to be more magical than ever — but only for four exclusive evenings.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Intaka Island’s nature reserve, the market has become a treasured Cape Town winter experience over the years, drawing thousands of visitors eager to escape the cold and embrace an atmosphere of warmth, flavour, music and community. Previous markets have become famous for their cosy ambience, glowing lanterns, gourmet comfort food, artisan stalls and festive live entertainment.
More than just a market
This year’s carefully curated vendor lineup is set to delight every craving imaginable.
Visitors can indulge in mouthwatering street food favourites from trucks including Chiptastix, Wing!t, The Local Fix and Halibi Treats, while the Truck Area will serve up irresistible flavours from Rib Republic, Amigo Foods and Coconuts for Africa.
The Train Area will be buzzing with artisan eats and handcrafted treasures from vendors such as Creation Novelties, Sampsons Biltong, Lin Family Eats, Inno’s Artisan Pizza and Wrap It Up.
For those seeking something indulgent, inside Intaka’s Activity Centre will offer a feast of flavour with Empanadas, authentic Paella, S&J Dim Sum, Chocolat du Coeur, Krumble, Lily’s Fudge and Corrado’s tempting visitors with sweet and savoury delights.
Seafood lovers can savour oysters from Queen of Oysters, while the parking area also features favourites including Saffron Eatery, Zie Zems, Shwarma Zone, Crush and a welcoming Wine Bar perfect for warming up on a crisp winter evening.
The entrance at Intaka invites guests to ease into the night market atmosphere with Gorgeous Nuts, Vic’s Fragrance, Sushi Lover, Malika and more artisanal offerings, while outside Intaka, visitors can enjoy refreshments from Loutaya and Yan Coffe’n’Smoothies.
Adding a stylish creative flair to the market experience, The Cube will showcase local designers and makers including CM Stylist, Luna Wolf Collective, Pili Pili Sauvage and Koco and Design.
Soul Sounds and Serenades
And of course, no Winter Night Market would be complete without live music to set the tone for the evening.
Guests can settle in from 16h00 with the soulful sounds of Grace de la Hunt before Sheldon de St Pern takes the stage from 18h30 to 21h00, bringing the perfect soundtrack to a magical winter’s night under the lights.
Whether you’re gathering with friends around a fire, enjoying a glass of wine beneath the stars, discovering local artisans, or simply soaking up the atmosphere with family, the Century City Winter Night Market offers a uniquely Cape Town experience that captures the heart of winter beautifully.
With only four events taking place this season, visitors are encouraged to make the most of these special evenings before the market disappears again until next winter.
