Century City Carols in the Park 2023

Century City’s Carols in the Park was a blast!

The Century City Carols originated in 2008. Called Carols by Candlelight and held in Central Park, this annual family affair became very popular with not only locals, but people far and wide streamed to Century City to attend.  After a two-year hiatus in 2020 and 2021, it was renamed to Carols in the Park and moved to Ratanga Park in 2022.

This year’s event took place on Sunday, 3 December, where about 2 000 attendees were witness to the most spectacular pink skies, the clouds creating works of art as if especially for the event.  On this beautiful summer’s evening, visitors were invited to bring friends, family and children for a festive season celebration with their blankets and picnic baskets and to relax on the lawns of Ratanga Park, while they enjoy an evening of festivities and Carol singing.

Teaming up with Planetshakers Church once again, a festive evening full of fun activities for children, classic Christmas carols and spectacular views under the stars were enjoyed by all.

A new addition to this year’s Carols was the Century City Tramway, and with its beautiful red and gold colouring, was the perfect Christmas themed ride. Even good enough for Santa who arrived on the tram to the delight of young and those young at heart.

Carollers were asked to give back by assisting Little Lambs NPO, a local charity that helps hundreds of needy babies through their delicate first months, vulnerable children as well as teenagers who cannot afford basic sanitary packs. Bins were provided for donations.

Many of the children they support have HIV, TB or have been abused, abandoned, or orphaned due to AIDS.
