With 1.6 million vehicles entering the precinct during December 2021, all security service providers were on heightened alert to deal with any incidents.

Marinus Boshoff, Safety & Security Manager for Century City explains, “CCPOA response teams assisted with all medical emergencies and the occasional field fire in and around the precinct. Foot and bicycle patrols diligently patrolled all public spaces and supported Smart technology surveillance from the Century City Security Operations Centre (SOC).”

In addition, the mobile Surveillance Unit trailer provided additional surveillance in hotspots around Century City, supported by a fully operational License Plate Recognition system.

Century City believes in collaboration with the City of Cape Town and related departments to ensure a smooth-running Smart city.

“Throughout the Festive Season, extensive and ongoing liaison with the Goodwood Traffic Management Centre (TMC) helped facilitate rapid adjustments to traffic signal timing when required.” says Boshoff. “The Century City Variable Message System (VMS) helps warn motorists of any traffic congestion, accident and general messages during this period. The two Traffic Officers dedicated to Century City also assisted with traffic enforcement and supported Milnerton Traffic Services over the weekends and public holidays.”
