Supporting Act Birthday Celebrations as Canal Walk’s upcoming entertainment programme to provide an uplifting and free variety show harking back to the year 2000, where it all began!

Cape Town, 28 September 2021Canal Walk Shopping Centre is celebrating its 21st birthday by bringing much-needed light relief to all members of the family. As part of their ‘Back to 2000’ campaign, Canal Walk will provide a free variety show that will take place each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October from 8th onwards.  The fun show features music and storytelling, magicians, clowns, tumblers, and street dancers.

Performances will take place from 18h00 – 19h30 on Friday evenings and 10H00 – 18H00 on Saturdays and Sundays in the centre court. All COVID-19 protection protocols will be observed with the appropriate restrictions in place.

Vanessa Herbst, Marketing Manager at Canal Walk Shopping Centre remarked: “Our annual entertainment calendar has become a fixture over the years and has been sorely missed by the patrons, as well as our team.  We are so happy to be able to play our part in bringing a bit of happiness to everyone with this show, a part of our month-long birthday celebrations.

“As we all know, COVID-19 has curtailed all manner of events, with the arts and culture sector, being one of the most severely affected.  But the show must go on, and so we are delighted to be in a position to assist our local entertainers whilst creating happy memories for shoppers and their loved ones too and we encourage people to come down and support our performers.”

Whilst Canal Walk Shopping Centre will be paying the performers, they also encourage audiences to donate to the Theatre Benevolent fund, a registered charitable fund (PBO) founded in 1962, that continues to support those who work in the entertainment industry.
