Dubbed the Monte Carlo of parkruns by none other than Bruce Fordyce, South African running legend and President for parkrun in South Africa.

And now, our parkrun is officially the most attended one in the country and we’re fifth in the world!

On Saturday, 9 November, a total of 22 204 participants were recorded at 188 events that have published their results. Century City parkrun ranked first in the country with 978 participants, with North Beach in KwaZulu-Natal second with 803 participants.

Globally, Century City was fifth, with Bushy Park (UK) (1,386), Battersea (UK) (1,262), Southampton (UK) (1,123) and Poole (UK) (1,006) taking the first four spots.

With its starting point in Ratanga Park every Saturday at 8:00, the Century City parkrun shows a strong community presence and secondly with the number of first-timers and Personal Bests, it also shows an active, growing interest in parkrun.

Never joined a parkrun?  parkrun is a free, weekly, 5-kilometre event that takes place in parks and outdoor spaces around the world. It’s open to everyone, and participants can walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate at their own pace.
