Century City links into the MyCiTi network

City of Cape Town’s Integrated rapid transit system, the MyCiTi  service,was extended to Century City on November 30.
Chris Blackshaw, CEO of the Century City Property Owners’ Association responsible for the day to day running of Century City, said the launch of the new Century City – Montague Gardens service (MyCiTi route 251) had got off to a good start and was being well supported.
“As can be expected there were one or two small teething problems but these were quickly ironed out and the take up of the new service has been excellent.”
He said commuters could now buy MyConnect cards at three different points in Century City, kiosks at the Ratanga Road Public Transport Interchange (PTI), the Century Avenue PTI and the Shell Garage Canal Walk.
“This is an important milestone for Century City on both a symbolic and practical level as MyCiTi really ensures that Century City is connected to the broader Cape Town community.”
Blackshaw said they looked forward to the increased take up of the service as future feeder routes and trunk routes are added to Century City network during the course of next year.
“Once these are in place we expect the MyCiTi service to really help ease peak traffic congestion.”
