Century City Sports Festival draws record numbers

Thousands of runners and other athletes turned out for the tenth annual Century City Sports Festival held over the past weekend.

The festival included seven sports codes with the signature event being the highly-rated Century City 10km Express road race with Discovery Vitality which attracted more than 3100 runners from around the country, almost 30% more than previous years. This was followed by a 5km family fun run which attracted a further 1100 participants including 300 runners from the JAG Foundation.

Sinenjongo excels for seventh year

achieving an 86,3% pass rate in the 2017 matric examinations.

Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park in Milnerton, which is sponsored by the Century City Property Owners’ Association and Rabie Property Group, achieved an 86,3% pass rate in the 2017 matric examinations.

New doctors’ surgery opens

A new General Practioners’ Surgery has opened at the main entrance to Oasis Luxury Retirement Resort.

The Gatehouse Surgery is staffed by two mid-career general practitioners, Dr Gaylene du Plessis and Dr Daniel Isherwood, who have both trained in South Africa and have further general practitioner specialist qualifications and extensive experience from the United Kingdom.

Rabie awarded SA’s 300th green building certification

Rabie Property Group scooped the 300th green building certification at the Green Building Council of South Africa at the organisation’s recent 10th annual convention at Century City.

Rabie, a pioneer in green building, received the latest award in the As Built category for its mixed use Century City Square development – the first mixed use development in South Africa to achieve this. The Square was also the first mixed use development in Cape Town and the second country wide to be awarded Green Star accreditation for a mixed use development in the Design category.

Century City runner to brave extreme race for charity

Century City Athletic Club (CCAC) runner, Gavin Shaskolsky, is to brave the gruelling Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon (KAEM) for the second consecutive year – this time to raise funds for Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park.

The KAEM is a self-sufficiency run of 250km held over six legs in seven days with set distances for each day, ranging from 28km to 80km. Participants must carry all their supplies, clothes and compulsory safety/survival equipment for the duration of the event. Overnight shelter in camps, and water, which is strictly controlled and distributed during the race, is supplied.

Century City runner wins Sanlam 12km Peace Trail

Century City runner Tanya Posthumus-Fox won the prestigious Sanlam Cape Town Peace 12km Trail over the weekend with a time of 01:11:50.

In second place was Stella Kuhn von Burgsdorff with a time of 01:12:18 and Megan North in third place with a time of 01:17:25.

Ratanga to be redeveloped into vibrant mixed-use precinct

Ratanga Junction theme park, which is to close on 1 May 2018, is to be redeveloped into a vibrant new mixed-use development.

While planning is still at an embryonic stage, it is envisaged the redevelopment will embrace the existing canals, island and public open space and will include residential apartments, offices, hotels, restaurants and convenience retail.

Century City launches new state -of- the- art Security Operations Centre

Century City has launched a new state-of the art Security Operations Centre (SOC) to keep it at the forefront of crime prevention and combatting initiatives in the Western Cape.

Chris Blackshaw, CEO of the Century City Property Owners’ Association, the non-profit company responsible for the day to day operations of the precinct, said their strategy to date of combining the use of cutting-edge technology with highly visible policing and rapid emergency response had proven to be very successful in curbing crime at Century City.

Rabie, Ratanga & CCPOA joined forces for Mandela Day

to feed the more than 1000 learners and staff at Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park this week in a belated celebration for Mandela Day.

Armed with yellow gloves and black bags, teams of learners earlier had headed out into the township to do their 67 minutes for Mandela by picking up litter in the township. Hundreds of bags of garbage were then packed onto CCPOA trucks and taken to the municipal dump
