Century City Property Owners’ Association (CCPOA) has a new horticulturalist, Siyabulela Swaartbooi, who was appointed in April 2019 and is already proving a pivotal addition to the team.

Siyabulela matriculated from HH Majiza Senior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape and began studying his passion at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, with a National Diploma in Horticulture Science in 2007 followed by a BTech in Horticulture (BTHOR) presented by the University of South Africa.

During his career, Siya has gained many industry skills and achievements, working previously at companies such as Builders Express (Home & Garden), Cape Contours Landscaping Solution and most recently at Interplant Horticulture as a site manager.

When asked what he was looking forward to the most in his new role, Siya replied, “I was excited to start working at Century City as it’ s such a unique and exciting place full of diversity and creativity.  I’m looking forward to incorporating all of this into the landscapes we manage and with the advantage of using non potable water, we can ensure that the area is always looking green, lush and in its best condition. I am also excited to bring new ideas and innovations not only to the greater Century City area but to Intaka Island as well.”

Siya currently resides in Mfuleni and has two children, a boy and a girl. An avid soccer supporter, Siya loves nothing more than to relax at home with his family and friends while watching a soccer match or having a braai.

Siya’s role as horticulturalist will include responsibilities such as maintaining Century City’s high horticultural standards and practices; providing direction, training and motivation for the horticultural staff, interns and volunteers; the propagation of local indigenous and landscaping plants, as well as overseeing the maintenance and revamping of landscaped gardens under the control of the CCPOA.

We wish him all the best and look forward to working with him.
