Following the easing of the National Lockdown Regulations to allow for exercising in Parks and Nature Reserves, Century City is delighted to announce the re-opening of Intaka Island Reserve, with effect from Monday 27 July 2020.

Staff have been working diligently to ensure that the Reserve is compliant and ready to welcome visitors. All regulations relating to social distancing, health protocols, movement and the prohibition of groups and gatherings will apply.

The Reserve will be open to the public from 08h00 – 17h30 (Monday – Sunday). Why the later opening? Staff on duty must perform several hygiene, screening and testing tasks before visitors can enter the Reserve.

SCREENING will take place on entering the foyer / front glass doors. All visitors will be subject to a 3-step check-in process:

1.    Wearing of face masks.
2.    Disinfection of hands with sanitiser.
3.    Scanning of body temperature. This will be unobtrusive with high regard for personal space and comfort.

As all visitors are subject to screening, we regret no early entries or late exits.

Ablution facilities will be available at the Eco-Centre and Lapa area. We kindly request our visitors to respect social distancing and hygiene protocols.

As the Reserve will only be open for exercising purposes, visits will be limited to self-guided walks. We request all visitors to observe social distancing whilst out on the pathways and viewing areas.

We regret no picnicking, boat rides, guided tours or tour operators will be allowed at this stage.

BIRD HIDES are open:

•    LIMITED TO 5 PERSONS AT ANY ONE TIME and observing social distancing and hygiene protocols.
•    Please make use of the sanitiser station provided upon entering and exiting the bird hides.
•    Please wear your mask while inside the bird hide and around the Island.
•    Visitors will be limited to a maximum of 45mins per person in the bird hide, to give all       visitors an equal opportunity to enjoy the beautiful birdlife that we have all            missed so much.

Intaka remains closed for school groups, functions and events at this stage, including the Activity Centre, Cube and Lapa. Visitors are still welcome to make bookings for Venue Hire or Events later in the year or 2021. Feel free to contact our Office to discuss further details.

Please help us to stay open by adhering to COVID-19 Regulations and Health & Safety protocols. We will be monitoring the situation and hope that we will be able to operate optimally soon.

Looking forward to welcoming all our visitors back on the Island!
