Since its inception in 2011, the restaurant has gained a strong following and customer support base in Cape Town. A customer’s survey conducted by Canal Walk, highlighted that customers were particularly pleased with Akiya Sushi as a unique taste experience as well as our commitment to superb quality in using only the freshest ingredients in our kitchen. Overall Akiya scored a 99% satisfaction rate during the survey. We also experienced a growth in our customer support and sustained customer loyalty as a result of the process.

For the design of our new restaurant premises, our aim is to expand on our vision that a restaurant can serve as a stage to experience our unique Japanese culture and lifestyle. For guests coming to our restaurant, it will be like visiting our home where we have created rooms for the enjoyment of everyday activities. From enjoying our exquisite selection of imported teas and Japanese sake in our small lounge area and drinks bar, experiencing our skilled chef’s knife skills from the safety of our sushi counter, or enjoying an authentic experience in refined Asian cuisine in our restaurant seating area. Our new restaurant will also provide clients the opportunity to purchase some of our selected imported tea pots and authentic teas on display throughout our restaurant.

Our vision is defined in the name of our new Restaurant: Akiya: a true lifestyle.
