WHAT’S THE STORIES

Century City Sports Festival

Date 29 January 2021

With all the sudden changes thrust upon us due to Covid-19 over the past year, there are so many things we’ve had to re-evaluate, especially our events. It has become clear that we will unfortunately not be able to host our annual Century City Sports Festival in the same format we have for the past 12 years, which is a large event with all the disciplines competing over one weekend.   Our community remains one of our cornerstones, and it was therefore important that we find a creative solution for the variety of athletes who enjoy practicing their sport in Century City and the many spectators who come out to support.

The good news is that we will host the Century City Express Race with Discovery Vitality as a virtual race within the current restrictions on the weekend of 27 and 28 February. Choose between three distances 5km, 10km, 5km in any location of your choice and earn Discovery Vitality points, spot prizes and giveaways. Enter here

In terms of all the other sporting codes, we workshopped our ideas with the respective role players, and concluded that we will host a Century City Sports Festival, which is spread over the year across smaller events per sporting code, once restrictions safely allow.  This approach has the full support of all the sporting codes, which are Touch Rugby, Cycling Kermesse, Dragon Boating, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddling, Fives Futbol, Canoe Polo and Curro School Sports.
