Century City Rotary Family Health Day 2 – 4 October

< Back to News
Date 27 August 2019

Rotary Family Health Days, a unique public/private partnership program that is currently in its eighth year of operation. The three-day, integrated annual program provides free holistic, comprehensive, preventative health programs (both for infectious and non-communicable diseases.) The program leverages and inspires a massive force of humanitarian-driven volunteers through Rotary clubs in multiple countries in Africa and India.

Its results from a call to action by Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, the previous Minister of Health, on all sectors of society to respond to the crippling quadruple burden of disease affecting the health our country.  “We have to ensure that coverage of our services for prevention as well as treatment, care and support, together with their quality, improves in every corner of our country.  Key will be to improve the involvement of communities in planning and implementation of solutions.”

Enter Rotary International, an organisation that, through community service, seeks to improve the lives of people within our local communities. Right here in Century City, the local Rotary Club of Century City has partnered with the Century City Property Owners Association, to bring Rotary Family Health Days to our doorstep.

The 3-day campaign will take place at the Ratanga Road MyCiTi Public Transport Interchange on the 2nd and 3rd, and at the Square on the 4th of October 2019. Visitors to the sites will be able to access free services such as Blood pressure screening, Cholesterol screening, Glucose screening, HIV Testing, TB testing, Men’s and Women’s Health testing.

HOW CAN YOU BE PART OF IT?

•          Volunteer some of your personal time to help direct, assist and control visitors. All health screenings will be done by professionals, so no experience needed.

•          Encourage your staff, who do not have access to medical aid or health insurance, to visit for the day, individually or in groups.

•          Attend if you do not have adequate health insurance or medical aid and would like to access the free tests.

•          If you are a business and want to be part of this exciting initiative within our local community, or if you can help with any free services or products, or are willing to be a referral partner for certain services, please contact us to discuss.
