Thanks to all who donated stationery!

30 January 2014

Mrs Khuleswa Nopote, principal of Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park,  admires a

mountain of stationery donated to the school by visitors to the Century City annual Carols by Candlelight held in December.

This is the fourth year Century City has requested guests to make a donation of stationery to Sinejongo, which serves an impoverished community on our doorstep.

The school, which was adopted by a number of Century City stakeholders as the major beneficiary of their CSI programmes in recent years - in particular the Rabie Property Group and Ratanga Junction-  has undergone a major turnaround in the past six years lifting its matric pass rate from an abysmal 27% to well over 90% and more than doubling the number of matrics being retained in the school system.

Ms Nopote said the stationery would be used as prizes to reward well performing students during the course of the year.

"It makes a huge difference in their lives and proves to be a great incentive to encourage hard work," she said.
