The sushi menu was a natural extension for this popular Century City local with owner, Marc Langlois, a partner in Cape Town favourites such as Manga and Sotano, both of which are renowned for their delectable sushi offering.

Janko De Beer sculpture for Century City Arts Trail

Internationally acclaimed South African artist, Janko De Beer has been commissioned to do a sculpture for the Century City Arts Foundation which will have pride of place near the newly completed Waters Edge residential development in Century City.

Janko, who hails from Somerset West, was recently nominated for a Global Art Award and he has established a strong international following with his powerful sculptures now held in private collections in England, Switzerland, Scotland, Belgium, Dubai, Australia, and Monaco

Elegant extended Oasis Club unveiled

The beautifully furnished extended clubhouse facilities at the Oasis Luxury Retirement Resort were officially opened at a cocktail party attended by more than 200 residents in November.

The R4,2million extension to the Club House, paid for by the developer – the Oasis Joint Venture comprising Rabie Property Group and a Harries Consortium - has significantly increased the capacity of the dining room, kitchen and lounge to accommodate the growing Oasis family.

Tap into Century City’s recycled water supply to cut use of potable water

Century City commercial stakeholders are encouraged to tap into the CCPOA’s treated effluent supply line not only for irrigation purposes but also for flushing their toilets and for their cooling systems.

Chris Blackshaw, CEO of the Century City Property Owners’ Association, says Century City is in a unique and fortunate position as the developers have installed a dedicated pipeline to convey treated effluent from the City of Cape Town’s Potsdam Water Works to Century City and this is available for irrigation and other uses via a metered connection.

Century City ready for Festive crowds

Century City is well prepared for a bumper Festive Season when millions of visitors are expected to flock to the precinct for shopping and fun.

Canal Walk alone is expected to attract more than 2.4 million shoppers in December, of which more than 100 000 are anticipated on Christmas Eve, according to Vanessa Herbst, Marketing Manager for the shopping centre.

Ratanga offers special half price group rate

Ratanga Junction is offering half price tickets at R89.50 for groups of 20 or more for the first 22 days of the Summer Season from 24 November until 15 December 2017.

This is part of the park’s strategy of offering ticket specials in the off-peak periods to enable as many people as possible to have one last ride before the park closes for good at the end of business on May 1 2018.

Discover wonderful walks on your doorstep

One of the joys of living in Century City is the easy access one has to some very scenic walks.

There are two wonderful walks around Intaka Island. The one through the man-made portion of Intaka Island is 1km and has a number of benches on the route where one can rest and enjoy the tranquillity of the environment. You can also park off in one of the bird hides and observe the incredible variety of feathered friends that Intaka is home to.

Thembanani Magazi - A man of note

Field guide, environmental educationist, bird authority and Skipper - Thembanani Magazi - has been an integral part of Century City, and in particular Intaka Island, since 2003.

Born in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, Thembanani came to Cape Town after he matriculated. He resides with his wife Phakama, their two sons Liyema (8years) and Alunamda (8 months) and stepdaughter Alungile (12) in Kwezi Park, Khayelitsha.

Help us save water!

Century City Property Owners’ Association calls on all Century City stakeholders to do everything in their power to save water.

In the face of the Western Cape experiencing its worst drought in 100 years, Level 5 water restrictions were introduced on 3 September by the City of Cape Town, in terms of which all businesses are required to reduce their water consumption by 20% from the previous year.

Tunnel Transformation par excellence!

A blaze of colour rather than drab concrete tunnels now greets the thousands of daily train commuters to Century City.

This is thanks to the artistic genius of father and son artists Paul “Hardi” and Calvin Raubenheimer who were commissioned by the Century City Arts Foundation to transform the underpass walkway between Century City and the station into an enchanting mural landscape.

Intaka Island comes of age

Intaka Island, the jewel in the crown of Century City, celebrates its 21st birthday in September.

To commemorate this major milestone, Intaka will be offering the public a discounted combo ticket of just R21 per person between September 18 and 24. This will entitle you to entry onto the Island as well as a scenic boat trip along the Century City canals. The usual price is R55 for adults and R45 for kids.
