Some bikers just don’t let old age or the age of their vehicles get in their way, rather they use it to their advantage when taking part in the annual Century Run.

In fact, the 11th annual 100km Century Run-  where the combined age of riders and their motorbikes needs to exceed 100 years - took place from Century City earlier this month.

The oldest of this year’s 47 participants was 86-year-old Neville Clarke while the oldest vehicle taking part was a 104-year-old Douglas belonging to Brian Wallace.

The overall winner this year was Barry South whose age and that of his bike totalled 173 years.

The Century Run was conceived by veteran biker, Jerry Day, and has become an increasingly popular annual event that starts at Century City and meanders 100km through the Durbanville Winelands ending at Killarney.
