Recently I was given the opportunity to experience the “Four Seasons Massage” at the Century City Life Day Spa situated on the first floor of the Crystal Towers Hotel and what an incredible experience it was.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, Life Day Spa offered the entire wellness experience. On arrival, I was ushered to the change rooms where you are given a gown and slippers to wear for the duration of your treatment, then to the waiting area which is filled with delicious snacks and beverages.

Upon entering the therapy room, I was welcomed by a burst of the most delicious aromas and an air of calming ambience. My knowledgeable and experienced therapist, Dorianne, began our session by checking if the temperature of the room was suitable and asking what colour I would like the lighting to be as each room has the added feature of colour therapy to promote the balance of body, mind and spirit.

The treatment began with the chime of a bell and the deep relaxed breathing of an essential oil. For our session, Dorianne chose lemongrass, a powerful, citrus scent used to alleviate stress and anxiety, synonymous with revitalisation. All details carefully selected to enhance each Spa experience.

She then began my treatment. The full-body layer locking massage takes your body through the four seasons, Autumn being exfoliation, removing dead skin cells and preparing it for nourishment, Spring, a serum is applied to deeply nourish the skin, Summer is body butter allowing your skin to glow radiantly, ending off with Winter, a barrier from a soy massage candle that melts into warm, lavish massage oil, poured over the skin for a luxurious massage treatment to melt away tension.

If like me, the words Four Seasons conjured up images of Vivaldi’s orchestra and Angels carefreely playing, you would be duly excused as the calming ethereal music coupled with the revitalising treatment made me feel as if for 90 minutes I was in fact transported to a place amongst the clouds.

My skin feels amazingly soft, supple and rejuvenated. This is definitely a treatment I would recommend you have at the changing of each season or if you are able, once a month. It’s a great way to prepare your body for each new season and keeping it in its best condition.

The treatment lasts for 90mins at a cost of R 890 which includes your take-home package to extend your spa journey at home.

Guests are welcome to arrive 60 minutes prior to the scheduled treatment to enjoy the complimentary spa facilities such as lounging by the beautiful suspended outdoor pool with a glass viewing wall while you take in the sights of majestic Table Mountain or detoxify the body of impurities in the steam room.

Please inform your therapist prior to your appointment of any allergies, conditions or pregnancies to ensure your treatment is tailored to give you the best experience.
