Being a 37-year-old stay at home mother of two crazy kids aged 6 and 4. I am also a PA to most of my family, so self-care isn’t high up on my To-do list, although I do enjoy reading and my monthly manicure and pedicure. So when I was contacted and told I would be experiencing and reviewing a Hemp oil massage - The excitement was real!

I have been to Life day Spa at Crystal Towers a few times before and can honestly say that their facility is so well maintained. I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff who showed me to the change rooms, this is where I realised that I forgot to shave my legs. Shock horror! I wasn’t letting anything stand in the way of an amazing massage. I was then led to the waiting area, which is stocked with both hot and cold beverages, mini muffins and a delicious muesli cup, which I enjoyed on a very comfy sofa.

This is where I hit my one and only snag of the visit, my therapist Kogomotso was delayed by a previous appointment and was, unfortunately, running late. When she did arrive and took me to my treatment room I was a bit irritated, and after apologising she explained what the treatment entailed… A massage using CBD oils (which contains no THC so you don’t get the high feeling) followed by a Hemp tea and cookie.

Any displeasure I had at her for being late was all forgotten as soon as she started. The massage was absolutely amazing, the oil was warm and had a pleasant aroma and for the next hour, I was putty in her hands as I was in a state of semi-consciousness and sleep. The final gong rang which sounded the end of my blissful rest and Kogomotso got me some water to drink while she went to prepare my tea. I put my robe on reluctantly and went to the waiting area. My peppermint tea and biscuit arrived and I sat peacefully enjoying it. The biscuit smelt of ginger and strangely enough I got a whiff of biltong, hence I was a bit reluctant to eat it but I was pleasantly surprised.

From there I went and made use of the Spa facilities. The steam room and virtual forest are the perfect combination of hot and cold which is great for circulation so I am told. When booking this treatment for yourself make sure to give yourself enough time to enjoy these facilities before you have to leave. I was very hesitant to go back to the hustle and bustle of real life because I felt so relaxed and at peace.

I sit now next to the tennis court watching my daughter doing sport and I am so relaxed and ready for the last bit of the term ahead.

I would just like to thank all those that made this experience possible for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be booking another one very soon.
