Bianca Beavitt, the Century City paddler sponsored by the Century City Property Owners’ Association,  won the first leg of the women’s 2015 Berg River Canoe Marathon yesterday.

According to an article by Kyle Gilham of Gameplan Media,  who is covering the event, there was little other women competitors could do “to counter the dominance of the Century City competitor who wasted little time in powering her way to a commanding stage victory that sees her with one hand on the trophy already.”
Bianca ended the first leg of the race in a time of five hours 43 minutes and 11 seconds. In second place was Robyn Henderson in 6:15.07 and in third place Joritha Prins in 6:37.5.
The four day race ends at Velddrif on Saturday.
