Century City hosts third annual Sports Festival from March 4-6

Century City will be hosting its third annual sports festival boasting action-packed spectator and participatory sports from March 4-6.

The signature event of the three-day 2011 Century City Sports Festival will be the 10km Century City Championship Road Race on Saturday 5 March. Registration for the event, which is on the official Western Province Athletics Calendar, opens from 5.30am with the race starting at 7am.

The entry fee is R30 for licensed runners and R45 for unlicensed runners.

The race follows a safe, flat, circular route in and around Century City.

There are cash prizes for winners and places while the first thousand finishers will receive medals.

The 10km road race will be followed by a 2,5km Family Fun Run/Walk at 7.15am, registration for which opens at 6am. The entry fee for the fun run/walk is R20. The route is a safe, scenic trail along the Canal and around Intaka Island Nature Reserve.

The starting venue for both races is Central Park.

The festival also includes Junior Touch Rugby tournament and Dragon Boat racing on Friday March 4; Dragon Boat racing and Corporate Touch Rugby tournament on Saturday 5 March and Kermesse Circuit Cycling, Canoeing, Canoe Polo and Corporate 5 a side Soccer tournament on the Sunday.
